It was a pleasure meeting with Mississippi Action for Progress Head Start leaders during their visit to Capitol Hill to discuss their successes and priorities in supporting early childhood development and education. I am truly grateful for their many years of service to our state's families and communities.

Mississippi Action for Progress Head Start provides an invaluable service to young children and their families in Natchez. Providing child development and family services programming to families throughout our community, MAP Head Start makes an impact daily on the health, well- being, and education of our citizens. I look forward to many years of continued success as they touch the lives of so many people in our beloved city.

One of the best things my parents did for my educational journey, was to enroll me in ‘Head Start” as a child. I can remember my HeadStart teachers teaching in a way that made learning fun, while still making sure the work was completed. HeadStart was my first encounter, outside of our home, that taught me how to be accountable at a young age. Learning this discipline at an early age has stuck with me all my life and is a large part (other than God) of why I have achieved the accolades and positions that I currently hold today.
