UPDATE ON THE HEAD START CLOSURE
Everyone at MAP hopes you and your family are getting through the COVID-19 crisis safely. As you know, on Monday, March 16, 2020, our Centers, Regional Office and Head Start Central temporarily closed to access the procedures and considerations for school closure to remain in compliance with the Center for Disease Control.
This update is to advise that each of you are still on payroll and are still required to be working. For those employees who can work remotely by telephone and computer you will be expected to do that from home. Other employees will be contacted to report to the center or office in shifts to perform certain duties that must continue to be performed.
Your supervisor will contact you and let you know what is expected and how your assignment can be carried out.
For example, as payroll is continuing, the finance department will contact the necessary employees to come to work at the Central Office.
Another example, Clerks at the Centers will be expected to come to work as required to ensure that paperwork required to keep the center operational is processed.
Janitorial staff will be brought into the center to clean/disinfect in consultation with local health officials.
Teaching Staff should be preparing to teach and reinforce health hygiene on their return to the classroom.
This Update is designed to make you aware that Mississippi Action for Progress, Inc. is carefully examining the school closure with the knowledge that safety of our MAP family is a priority. MAP will monitor the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control and strive to minimize any unnecessary risk. We want however to stress that the agency has certain functions which must continue and all employees must be willing to come to work as required to maintain our ability to be viable. Each and every employee is considered to be working remotely and still required to report to work when called until further notice. Any questions on this Notice should be directed to Attorney Charlene Priester, In-House Counsel for MAP 601-353-2460.
