REGIONAL SUPPORT GENERALIST
Upper Southern District Office



Description:
• Monitor vehicle operations of Agency vehicles bi-weekly for safe operations, presence of safety/emergency equipment, inspection of tags and extinguisher; maintain appropriate records. Conduct conference(s) immediately regarding variances; submit appropriate reports to Supervisor.  
• Conduct and assist in demonstration workshops on the use of equipment, supplies, vehicle operation/maintenance, and cleaning techniques for facilities and vehicles for custodial and transportation staff.
• Assist in component workshops and training.
• Monitor facilities and vehicles, bi-weekly at a minimum, for needed repairs; obtain price quotes and forward requests for services and/or bid information to Supervisor.
• Conduct walk-through of facility and playground areas at each Center (bi-weekly at a minimum) to assure all potential dangerous/hazardous materials are stored in locked cabinets or in secured storage areas separate from medications and foods and are accessible only to authorized staff; monitor for compliance as appropriate; conduct conference(s) immediately regarding variances; maintain appropriate records.
• Use the Agency's online monitoring system and on-site visits to assure that routine (daily, monthly, annual) inspections occur.
• Assist Center Administrators and Bus Drivers in establishing transportation routes, draft transportation maps and schedules, and assign vehicles.
• Monitor vehicles bi-weekly at a minimum.   
• Maintain and assess school equipment (including playground equipment, lawnmowers, weed eaters, refrigerators, freezers, etc.).  Request items as needed.
• Maintain inventory of all equipment and supplies (kitchen, office, janitorial) in Centers and Regional Office.  Maintain current Inventory Logbook and Equipment Transfer records.
• Responsible for ensuring safety measures are maintained; building and grounds are clean and neat; grass cutting is maintained on a regular basis.

Location: Natchez, MS 
 
Requirements: B.S./B.A.  Degree in Industrial Arts/Education, Environment Safety and Protection, or other related Head Start field with demonstrated ability to supervise and the skills necessary to make minor repairs or assessment of major repairs on vehicles and preschool facilities as required.  
• A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in management, supervision, or transportation and/or three (3) years’ experience in services to or education of disadvantaged people; or in a daycare/preschool setting is highly desirable.
• Working knowledge of Head Start standards, Mississippi Childcare regulatory environment, or another related area in a non-profit organization; USDA and ACF guidelines, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in case management or related areas.
• Working knowledge or intermediate computer skills (Microsoft products to include spreadsheets, databases, presentation, and word processing).
• Must have a valid Mississippi CDL driver’s license.

• Substantial problem-solving relevant to maintaining continuity of Head Start/Early Head Start operation.
• Ability to travel, sometimes overnight and with short notice.
• Ability to accurately comprehend oral and written assignments and interpretation of policies and procedures, Performance Standards, and Federal, State, and local regulations.
• Ability to relate to clients from diverse populations.
• Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs, frequent, prolonged sitting and standing to complete tasks.
• Ability to travel, sometimes overnight and with short notice.
