The children, staff and parents of MAP's Demonstration Unit participated in a fund-raising event for the St. Jude Children's Hospital. The children reviewed traffic safety rules learned during the week and had opportunities to practice them during the Trike-a-Thon. Miss Debora A. Delaney, Child Care Provider/Trainer, commented, "The children were so excited to see the Trike-a-Thon raceway but not too excited to forget the rules." Some of the rules that she reviewed with the toddlers were seat belt safety, helmet safety, safety when crossing the street, and safe places to ride their bikes.
St. Jude is a research facility dedicated to fighting cancer and other catastrophic illnesses. The children are treated with no regard to the family's ability to pay. The monies collected for this event were donated for this cause. The parents and staff together collected approximately $500.00 during the event.
